Jaladheeswara Swamy ,Ghantasala - Only Temple in the World WIth Lord Shiva and Parvathi on single Peetam

There are many unknown and oldest temples in Andhra Pradesh. Though the temple architecture may not be as good as tamilnadu temples but the temples are quite old. Jaladheeswara swamy temple in Ghantasala, near Vijayawada is one such temple. The temple is at a distance of 60kms from vijayawada.

The Temple is also known as Sree Balaparvati Sametha Jaladheeswara Aalayam.The temple is said to be one of the ancient temples, believed to exist before 2nd century A.D. The temple is also considered to be only one in the world as both siva and parvathi are placed on a single "peetam" ( panavattamu ). The peetam includes shiva as lingam and parvathi devi in idol. 

The temple is said to the fourth ancient temple in Andhra pradesh. It is said that the shiva lingam here has similar features as Gudimallam temple. Some of the sailent features of the temples are
1. It is the only temple in the world to have lord shiva and parvathi on a single peetam
2. The peetam was placed by agastya maharshi.
3.  Nandeeshwara is more beautiful and realistic in the temple
4. One another feature of this temple is that nandeeshwara will be seen looking at parvathi devi instead of lord shiva
5. The devotees believe that jaladeeshwara abhisheka theertham is a cure for many diseases.
6. Visiting this temple for three times will give the same effect of visiting kasi.
