ArdhaGiri - Place where Part of Sanjeeva Parvatham fell

It is said that no other trees will live under a banayan tree. this is the same case with many temples under Tirupathi. There are many ancient , powerful temples which did not get much reorganization due to all fame taken by tirupathi.

Ardhagiri or aragonda is place which is 13kms from Kanipakam. There place is famours for Hanuman temple. According to legend, during Tretayuga, Hanuman brought Sanjeeva Parvatham so as to save lots of Lakshmana during a war once Lakshmana fell unconscious. Throughout the journey, 1/2 Sanjeeva Parvatham fell, and also the place wherever it landed came is thought as Aragonda. Aragonda, at the start is named as Aragonda (In Telugu language, “Ara” (sounds A’raw) means ‘Half’ and “Konda” (sounds Kon’Da) suggests that Hill or Mountain). There is a pond inside the temple which is believed to have medicinal powers.

From then, people started worshiping hanuman in the name of veera anjaneya swamy. Many people, till today, come from all the world to collect the medicated water in the pond, besides to the temple. The clay in the mountain contains many medicinal properties and has a power to cure many types of skin problems. The water in the pond comes from different place from the mountain, touching many roots of medicinal plants.People who go to tirupathi should also visit this very powerful temple.
